Role overview

This is a permanent driving post based at Banbury Delivery Office, OX16 4AA. The position runs for 37 hours per week over 5 days, with shifts scheduled across Monday to Sunday. Typical working windows include 08:00–16:40, 09:20–18:00, and 11:15–19:55. Because of operational needs, you will normally work one Sunday in every six, though this may change.

Royal Mail is evolving for the future, and this role places you at the centre of that transformation. As a delivery postie, you will support the local community by bringing letters and parcels safely to homes and businesses, whatever the weather. The role is active and physically demanding, but it also offers a chance to stay fit while doing work that matters to people in your area.

What the role involves

You will be responsible for secure and timely delivery of items on your route, including election materials and selected items such as food products or alcohol, always in line with Royal Mail business standards.

Working pattern

This is a 37-hour role. For recruitment search purposes, positions between 35 and 37 hours a week are treated as full-time, although any contract below 37 hours is classed as part-time in the employment agreement.

What we are looking for

We are looking for someone who is energetic, reliable, well organised and comfortable working independently. The right person will enjoy customer contact, be punctual, take pride in good service, and feel at home spending long periods on foot and working outdoors in all conditions. A strong community mindset is important, along with a full UK manual driving licence and no more than 6 penalty points.

Pay and benefits

You will receive a guaranteed hourly rate of £13.68, paid monthly and adjusted to reflect your hours.
