Honeywell is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer I to support the creation and refinement of mechanical components and systems. In this position, you will help deliver dependable, practical product designs while working with experienced engineers and teams across functions. The role is based in India and follows a hybrid work arrangement.

You will report to the Mechanical Design Manager and contribute to engineering work that balances performance, cost, schedule, and quality expectations. Your output will help drive the success of Honeywell’s product development efforts.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the design and development of mechanical systems, components, and assemblies.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed CAD models and engineering drawings in line with project needs.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to move product development forward and resolve design-related issues.
  • Apply knowledge of rotating equipment such as compressors and pumps, along with supporting systems including dry gas seals, lube oil systems, heat exchangers, pressure vessels, valves, and filters.
  • Understand and interpret relevant industry standards, including API 617, API 692, API 614, ASME Pressure Vessel Code, ASME standards, AGMA, and NACE.
  • Review customer scope documents, technical specifications, and datasheets.
  • Contribute to compressor and gearbox support system design, including P&ID reviews, seal support systems, lubrication systems, noise attenuation, and compressor control.
  • Carry out detailed engineering for compressor support systems aligned with current API standards for main and auxiliary drivers, heat exchangers, seal gas heaters, lube oil pumps, instruments, gauges, surge control valves, and related systems.
  • Prepare bills of material.
  • Guide design and drafting support resources as needed.
  • Participate in pre-release design reviews.
  • Prepare, review, and approve engineering drawings and related documentation such as seal gas and lube oil system datasheets, system layout drawings, build datasheets, and quality or test reports.
  • Support engineering excellence and continuous improvement efforts, including the development of Engineering Standard Work.
  • Experience with JDE and SAP will be an added advantage.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline.
  • 3 to 4 years of experience in mechanical design or a similar engineering role.
  • Foundational understanding of mechanical design concepts and methodologies.
  • Hands-on proficiency with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar software.
  • Familiarity with engineering documentation practices and design standards.

Preferred profile

  • Additional study or an advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is preferred.
  • Internship or co-op experience in product design or development is valued.
  • Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail are important.
  • Comfort working in a collaborative team environment is essential.
