The team develops practical, innovative solutions for complex problems and helps communities and organizations stay resilient, informed, and connected. This role is suited to someone who is purpose-driven and energized by meaningful, real-world work.
Role Overview
Calian is hiring a part-time Physiotherapist for the Canadian Forces Health Services Centre in Victoria, British Columbia. The position involves delivering assessment, consultation, and treatment services within the physiotherapy clinic through scheduled appointments and walk-ins, as well as supporting the Care Delivery Unit through sick parade and consultation within a collaborative care model. The caseload typically involves highly fit and motivated clients working toward recovery.
The pay range for this position is $46 to $56 per hour.
Key Duties
- Provide physiotherapy and rehabilitation care using evidence-based methods and accepted standards within regulatory scope.
- Manage an orthopedic caseload of about 12 to 15 patients per day, with roughly 8 to 10 new assessments each week and around 2 follow-up visits per hour.
- Assess and treat neuro-musculoskeletal issues, especially those linked to sports injuries, training-related injuries, workplace incidents, and accidents.
- Explain procedures clearly and obtain documented informed consent before assessment and treatment.
- Carry out screening assessments, patient education, and orthotic recommendations in a direct-access environment such as CDU walk-ins.
- Create exercise programs to support recovery, reduce future injury risk, and improve fitness.
- Use manual therapy and soft tissue methods for neuro-musculoskeletal issues, scar tissue, muscle tightness, circulation problems, and lymphatic concerns.
- Apply pain-management techniques, which may include acupuncture needling below the dermis.
- Deliver ergonomic education, including workplace assessments conducted on site.
- Educate patients and members of the healthcare team on topics such as injury prevention and health promotion.
- Carry out biomechanical foot assessments, including orthotic fitting and fabrication.
- Help design, prepare, and deliver clinic programs that support education and rehabilitation, such as proprioceptive rehab, reintegration, and back-pain self-management.
- Contribute to patient care planning through interdisciplinary meetings, clinical rounds, patient conferences, and arranging additional follow-up care.
- Complete clinical documentation for every patient interaction in line with Canadian Forces and provincial regulatory documentation requirements.
Qualifications
- Active British Columbia physiotherapy license in good standing.
- At least 1 year of experience in orthopedics or sports medicine, plus either Manual Therapy Level 1 or McKenzie Part A.
- Valid Standard First Aid certification and Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider, or an equivalent such as CPR/AED Level C.
Additional Requirements
- Ability to obtain a Government Security Clearance at the Reliability level.
- A security clearance and/or vulnerable sector screening may also be required.
Work Schedule and Environment
The role follows weekday hours from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with no evenings or weekends. The focus is on treatment rather than billing or marketing, and staff have access to patient resources, spacious treatment areas, and a collaborative multidisciplinary environment. Facilities on-base and in-house support exercise programming, gym equipment, custom bracing and orthotics, and specialized military equipment.
Benefits
