Platform Engineer

Role overview

We are hiring a Platform Engineer to help design, automate, and operate contemporary cloud data platforms. This contract role is centered on building scalable platform capabilities, strengthening infrastructure automation, and improving the onboarding and productivity of development teams.

The position calls for hands-on experience across Python, Apache Airflow with Astronomer Astro, Databricks, AWS, Terraform, and CI/CD automation. You will partner with architects and engineering teams to deliver resilient platform solutions and support day-to-day operations across cloud environments.

Key responsibilities

• Create automation scripts, integrations, and platform engineering utilities using Python.
• Develop, maintain, and support Airflow and Astronomer Astro DAGs as well as associated platform operations.
• Work with Databricks components such as workspaces, jobs, clusters, notebooks, and Unity Catalog.
• Provision and manage AWS infrastructure through Terraform and Infrastructure as Code practices.
• Set up and sustain CI/CD workflows using GitOps methods and tools like Harness.
• Build repeatable self-service platform features and onboarding processes.
• Administer AWS services including IAM, EKS, S3, Lambda, Secrets Manager, CloudWatch, and networking components.
• Apply security, access control, secrets handling, and governance standards across the platform.
• Investigate and resolve issues affecting cloud infrastructure, platform services, and connected applications.
• Coordinate with architects, developers, and client stakeholders to deliver scalable cloud platform solutions.

Required skills and experience

• Strong practical use of Python for scripting, automation, and platform engineering tasks.
• Experience working with Apache Airflow and Astronomer Astro.
• Ability to administer Databricks environments, including Unity Catalog, clusters, jobs, notebooks, and workspaces.
• Solid working knowledge of AWS services such as IAM, EKS, S3, Lambda, CloudWatch, Secrets Manager, and networking.
• Proven experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, GitOps workflows, and Harness deployments.
• Understanding of cloud security, access management, governance, and secrets management.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting ability.
• Clear communication skills and comfort working with distributed and onshore teams.

Preferred background

• Experience creating self-service platform capabilities.
• Exposure to enterprise cloud platforms and data engineering environments.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes and container-based workloads.
• Working knowledge of DevOps and platform engineering practices.

Location and engagement

This role is based in Gurugram, India, with remote work noted in the posting.

The engagement is a 12+ month contract.

Compensation

The stated pay range is INR 15,00,000 to INR 25,00,000 per year.
