Role Overview
This hourly Skilled Labourer position is suited to someone with construction experience who can work safely, handle physically demanding tasks, and support smooth day-to-day site operations.
Key Duties
- Work with a range of hand tools and power tools.
- Support general site setup and cleanup activities.
- Work in line with all required safety procedures.
- Assist with concrete placement and footing-related tasks.
- Operate equipment such as jackhammers, drills, skid steers, zoom booms, and aerial lifts where the required tickets are in place.
- Use site equipment including pumps, compressors, and generators.
- Load and unload construction materials.
- Erect and dismantle scaffolding and temporary site structures.
- Perform surface preparation such as grinding, sanding, scraping, and polishing.
- Help build forms for walls, slabs, stairs, and footings.
- Mix, place, pour, and finish concrete.
- Dig trenches, backfill areas, and level ground.
- Set, align, and strip formwork systems.
Requirements
- Background in at least three construction tasks or trades.
- Practical experience with concrete work, including pouring, spreading, and finishing.
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools safely and correctly.
- Solid understanding of workplace safety practices and safe lifting methods.
- Valid equipment certifications for skid steer, aerial lift, and telehandler operations.
- First Aid and CPR certification is preferred.
- Clear communication skills for working with supervisors, coworkers, and customers.
- Ability to manage time effectively and work with limited supervision.
- Strong teamwork and customer service mindset.
- Willingness to adapt, learn, and improve work methods.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of construction work, including lifting up to 50 lbs, working at heights, operating in all weather, working around noise and hazards, using PPE, climbing ladders, and working near heavy equipment.
