Role overview
The Gisenyi Brewery is seeking a skilled and committed Brewing Operator to support brewing operations. Reporting to the Shift Brewer, this position focuses on carrying out production activities efficiently while meeting safety and quality expectations.
Job purpose
This role is centered on applying safety principles every day, running processes with a strong quality mindset, and helping the brewery improve performance while reducing production losses.
Key responsibilities
- Follow the brewery’s safety, food safety, and sustainability standards, along with applicable local regulations.
- Support and consistently apply the safety agenda within the brewing department.
- Ensure all waste is cleared from the department area.
- Carry out safety-related tasks to the required standard and maintain them over time.
- Provide raw materials, auxiliary materials, and cleaning/disinfection supplies at the point of use in a timely manner.
- Perform basic checks on materials to help ensure product quality is not affected.
- Monitor product and process quality throughout operations.
- Identify tags and improvement opportunities and act on them where appropriate.
- Apply 5S, tagging, CILT, and problem-solving methods as part of TPM and continuous improvement efforts.
- Take part in, and when needed lead, improvement teams.
- Operate brewing processes according to approved standards and procedures.
- Maintain documentation and reporting for the assigned area within the limits of the role’s authority.
- Contribute to continuous improvement activities and escalate deviations to the Shift Brewer.
- Run and control all relevant machines and process equipment.
Qualifications and experience
Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Food Science, or a closely related discipline, and bring 1 to 3 years of experience in a process-driven manufacturing environment.
Additional requirements
Knowledge of TPM, Lean, Six Sigma, or similar improvement methodologies is preferred. The role also requires strong verbal and written communication skills in both English and Kinyarwanda.
