Job description

About Quantium

Quantium is an Australian-founded leader in data science and artificial intelligence, established in 2002. With a workforce of more than 1,200 people across 14 locations, the company combines product and consulting expertise to help organisations unlock value from data and analytics. Its work supports some of the world’s largest corporations in building smarter, more effective businesses.

The Financial Services Consulting practice works with banks, insurers, super funds and wealth managers in Australia, helping them turn data into practical decisions. The team operates as an embedded analytics partner using an AI-first delivery approach, with a strong focus on insurance and active growth in banking, superannuation and wealth.

Role overview

As an Analyst in Financial Services, you will contribute across the full lifecycle of client engagements. That includes shaping the problem, performing the analysis and helping translate findings into insight. You will work closely with senior analysts who provide coaching, and you’ll be expected to use AI as a daily productivity enhancer from the outset.

This role is best suited to people with strong problem-solving ability, quick learning agility and confidence in client-facing situations. It is a consulting analytics position rather than an internal analytics role, so the work is project-based, externally facing and often time-sensitive. In this environment, sound judgement and the ability to frame issues are valued more highly than simply producing large amounts of code.

What you will do

  • Support analytics projects from data preparation and exploration through to insight generation and presentation.
  • Turn unclear client issues into structured analytical approaches and testable hypotheses.
  • Carry out analysis using statistical, data science and AI-assisted techniques, selecting the most suitable method for each question.
  • Use AI tools to speed up delivery while staying alert to errors, weak assumptions and irrelevant outputs.
  • Present findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders using narratives, visualisations and practical recommendations.
  • Maintain quality control and keep documentation that is clear, reusable and easy for others to follow.
  • Actively seek feedback and use it to strengthen your technical, industry and consulting skills.
  • Deliver analytical work on schedule and to a high standard, with a clear connection to business outcomes.
  • Frame problems before starting analysis and avoid waiting for a fully defined brief.
  • Write clean, well-documented code and methods that can be reused by others.
  • Communicate results in simple language, including a recommendation or next step.
  • Look for opportunities to expand value within existing client work.

Requirements

  • Between 1 and 3 years of commercial experience in an analytics or data-related role.
  • Strong technical capability with analytics tools and programming languages such as SQL, R, Python and visualisation platforms.
  • Ability to identify the real business question and organise messy problems without relying on a fully formed brief.
  • Comfortable working quickly and carefully in a dynamic environment while maintaining high quality.
  • Regular, practical use of AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT or Copilot beyond basic experimentation.
  • A curiosity-driven mindset and willingness to learn across domains.
  • Open to feedback and able to improve performance between engagements.
  • It is fine if you do not meet every requirement; the company is prioritising problem-solving ability, big-picture thinking and how you work.

Benefits

  • Flexible work arrangements, including hybrid-style flexibility to help support work-life balance.
  • Ongoing learning through an internal analytics community that encourages development, collaboration, thought leadership and technical excellence.
  • Remote working allowance of up to 2 months per year outside your assigned home location.
  • Opportunities to shape your own career path, including movement across teams or offices.
  • A workplace that values community, diversity and shared interests.
  • The chance to contribute to meaningful outcomes regardless of role or seniority.

Additional information

This is a consulting analytics role with an AI-first delivery model, and the work is designed to help clients move from intuition to evidence. Quantium’s recruitment process includes the collection and use of personal information. The candidate data collection notice explains how personal information is collected, used and stored, including possible disclosure to the company’s majority shareholder, Woolworths Group Limited.

What the experience is like

Working at Quantium gives you the chance to tackle complex problems with rigour, precision and creativity. You are encouraged to ask strong questions, think broadly and push your problem-solving ability.

The team experience is also shaped by career mobility, community and impact. People are supported to move across teams or offices, build connections with colleagues who share similar interests, and contribute in ways that leave a lasting mark.
