Role Summary

This bakery position focuses on preparing unfinished bakery products by proofing and baking them according to product handling instructions, using ovens and other equipment as needed. The role also includes removing bakery items from frozen storage, displaying the right quantities based on production guidance, and keeping the bakery area clean, safe, and compliant with department standards.

Club Standards and Business Focus

• Help deliver GOLD club standards each day as part of a team effort.
• Maintain a grand-opening appearance by keeping displays stocked and promotional plans executed.
• Ensure signage is visible and accurate.
• Keep the bakery and surrounding areas clean, orderly, and well-presented.
• Understand and use production or financial performance reports relevant to the department.
• Recognize how consistent execution supports overall business results.

Key Duties

• Answer bakery-related questions, suggest items, handle member calls, and take special orders.
• Proof and bake all unfinished bakery products using the proper handling directions and equipment.
• Use bakery production charts to plan output and display quantities, and prepare items needed for the next day.
• Pack freshly baked items such as cookies, Danish pastries, muffins, rolls, breads, pies, cakes, and other bakery goods.
• Unload frozen bakery items and place the correct amount on display according to production guidance.
• Decorate special-order items or case products.
• Rotate, store, and handle products according to food safety, freshness, and product-handling rules.
• Receive, inspect, and store bakery deliveries while following safe food storage practices.
• Check product freshness, remove outdated items daily, and follow salvage and stale-item procedures.
• Create labels and price tickets, and complete price checks when required to ensure correct pricing.
• Clean and sanitize ovens, utensils, refrigerated cases, racks, tables, display fixtures, and other food-contact surfaces.
• Use bakery equipment safely and in line with operating procedures.
• Follow club policies and procedures at all times.
• Assist in other departments when needed and handle additional assigned tasks.
• Maintain regular, reliable, full attendance as an essential part of the role.

Qualifications

Experience in a bakery setting or in a customer-service-focused environment is preferred. Familiarity with bakery products is also an advantage. Applicants must be at least 18 years old.

Working Conditions

• The job involves frequent movement on non-hard surfaces and may require bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, stooping, and handling merchandise.
• Frequent lifting of up to 30 pounds is expected.
• Some tasks may require moving heavier or awkward items above 30 pounds with assistance.
• The work is performed indoors and includes regular exposure to freezers, ovens, coolers, and temperature changes.
• There may also be repeated contact with cleaning chemicals.

Compensation and Benefits

The pay rate starts at $16.25 per hour. Team members may also receive weekly pay, a complimentary Club Card Membership, an additional household Supplemental Membership, paid time off, health coverage options, a 401(k) plan with company match for eligible team members age 18+, and an employee stock purchase plan with a 15% discount through after-tax payroll deductions. Benefit availability can depend on the position.
