About the Role
Northpower is seeking a skilled Cable Jointer to join their team in Palmerston North. This role involves the installation, joining, and termination of cables for underground and overhead energy distribution networks. Key responsibilities include performing cable testing and identifying existing cables using various methods.
Responsibilities
- Install, replace, and repair electrical distribution systems, both underground and overhead.
- Perform cable jointing and termination, and assemble electrical components such as panels, junction boxes, ring main units, and transformers.
- Conduct cable testing to verify correct cable selection and assess cable condition before and after work.
- Adhere to strict safety protocols, including proper isolation and earthing procedures, before and after commencing work.
- Cultivate and maintain strong professional relationships with both internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure customer satisfaction and effective collaboration.
About You
The ideal candidate will possess a robust technical background in cable jointing and a dedication to producing high-quality work. Essential qualifications and experience include:
- New Zealand Certificate in Electricity Supply Cable Jointer – High Voltage Level 4 (or equivalent).
- New Zealand Certificate in Electricity Supply Cable Jointer – Low Voltage Level 3 (or equivalent).
- NZ Electrical Registration (EWRB) in Electrical Supply or an equivalent certification.
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in HV and/or LV cable jointing is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively plan and manage workload independently.
- Proficiency in both verbal and written communication.
- A valid Class 1 New Zealand Driver’s Licence.
