About the role
Tesco is looking for a Café Team Member to help run a busy café and contribute to a positive customer experience every day. The role combines food preparation, customer service, cleanliness, and teamwork in a fast-moving environment.
As part of the café team, you’ll prepare and serve food to the required menu standards, maintain food safety and hygiene, and keep the café area, kitchen tools, and tables clean and organised. The position also involves handling customer interactions, supporting smooth daily operations, and helping ensure products are available when needed.
This is a lively role with varied day-to-day tasks, and Tesco highlights flexible working options, opportunities to progress, and strong work-life balance as part of the opportunity. New colleagues are offered a minimum of 8 guaranteed hours per week.
Your contracted hours will be scheduled within the advertised availability windows, and shifts will be confirmed with 3 weeks’ notice. If your availability is close to, but not exactly, the posted times, you are still encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities
- Keep kitchen tools, equipment, and utensils clean and well maintained.
- Serve customers promptly, politely, and efficiently.
- Follow food safety and hygiene rules and maintain the required daily records.
- Use FIFO stock rotation to help keep food fresh.
- Receive deliveries and store food safely.
- Work in line with all operational policies and procedures.
- Prepare, cook, and serve food according to the café menu.
- Help ensure food standards are met and products remain available.
- Know the menu well and serve dishes in the correct way.
- Handle customer complaints and escalate relevant information to the Café Manager.
- Stay updated on business communications and new initiatives.
- Clear and sanitise tables to maintain a clean café environment.
Requirements

- Working knowledge of health and safety standards.
- Ability to work efficiently while maintaining a clean environment.
