Job description

About Taxually

Taxually is an expanding technology company focused on VAT and indirect tax compliance. It supports more than 10,000 clients across 105+ jurisdictions, combining specialist tax knowledge with modern software to make global compliance easier. The business is currently scaling quickly, expanding its use of AI in day-to-day work, and strengthening the systems needed for its next stage of growth.

Role overview

The company is hiring a senior operations leader to take charge of the operational foundation of the business. The role is responsible for keeping the organisation efficient, scalable, and consistently reliable for clients by bringing structure, discipline, and clear operating standards to a fast-changing environment.

This is a highly practical leadership position. You will work across tax operations, customer success, business support, and process design to improve productivity, quality, and cost control. You will also collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and commercial teams so that operations can keep pace with growth and new automation or AI capabilities are introduced where they have the greatest impact.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the core operational engine, including tax filing workflows, client onboarding, customer support delivery, and internal support activities, while maintaining strong standards for service levels, turnaround time, and quality.
  • Review and redesign end-to-end processes to remove bottlenecks, reduce unnecessary work, and create repeatable operating playbooks that can scale across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Drive the use of AI and automation in operational workflows, working with Product and Engineering to test and implement tools that reduce manual effort, especially in client communication, document handling, and compliance work.
  • Build and maintain an operations scorecard with clear KPIs, and establish a regular reporting rhythm so leadership has timely visibility into operational performance and emerging risks.
  • Lead and grow the operations team, making decisions on headcount, role structure, and capability development while balancing efficiency with deep subject-matter expertise.
  • Coordinate across commercial, product, and delivery teams to ensure operational feedback reaches roadmap discussions and client-facing issues are translated into product improvements.
  • Manage external vendors and partners, including outsourced or jointly delivered parts of the operating model, to meet quality expectations and cost targets.
  • Create operating models and capacity plans that support geographic expansion and new product lines without requiring headcount to grow at the same rate.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of experience in operations leadership, ideally within B2B SaaS, fintech, or professional services environments that involve work across multiple jurisdictions.
  • A strong record of building and scaling operations in a fast-growing company, with experience creating the system rather than simply maintaining it.
  • A process-driven mindset with the ability to think in systems, identify root causes, and improve workflows instead of reacting to issues as they arise.
  • Strong comfort with data, dashboards, and performance metrics, including the ability to use them to monitor and improve operations.
  • Practical experience introducing automation or AI into operational processes, with the judgment to separate useful tools from overhyped ones.
  • Proven people leadership skills, including the ability to hire, develop, and retain strong operators and make structural changes when needed.
  • Commercial understanding of how operations supports both customers and business performance.
  • Comfort working in ambiguous, evolving environments where decisions must often be made with incomplete information.
  • Nice-to-have experience in tax, accounting, or regulatory compliance operations.
  • Additional advantage if you have worked with European VAT or multi-country compliance processes.
  • Helpful if you have partnered with product or engineering teams in a technology business.
  • Experience moving operations from manual, people-heavy delivery to a more technology-enabled model is a plus.

Why Taxually

  • Opportunity to join a category-defining business operating in a large, underserved market.
  • Significant influence over how the company operates, with a role that shapes strategy rather than maintaining existing processes.
  • A leadership team that treats AI and automation as core strategic tools, not just buzzwords.
  • The chance to build operating infrastructure that can support global scale.
