Role overview

The Classification Analyst role supports DePuy Synthes’ global job architecture and classification approach by helping ensure positions are assessed correctly, documented consistently, and kept current. The position contributes to sound workforce decisions, stronger compliance, and better data integrity, while working closely with HR and business partners across the organization.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist with reviewing and classifying roles in line with established job architecture rules and governance requirements.
  • Analyze job information by examining job descriptions, reporting lines, and position requirements.
  • Keep job classification information accurate and updated in HR systems and related tools.
  • Work with HR, Talent, and Compensation teams to handle classification queries and apply guidelines consistently.
  • Support audits, reviews, and data quality validation activities tied to job classifications.
  • Review classification data to spot patterns, inconsistencies, and areas for improvement.
  • Contribute to improvements in job documentation, classification workflows, and control processes.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Analytics, or another relevant subject is required.
  • Advanced education or professional study in HR, compensation, or organizational design is an advantage.
  • About 3–5 years of relevant experience in job classification, HR operations, compensation, or workforce analytics is expected.
  • Ability to assess job content and apply structured evaluation methods.
  • Strong analytical ability, attention to detail, and commitment to data accuracy.
  • Comfort managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines in a structured setting.
  • Hands-on experience with HR systems and Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills for explaining classification decisions.
  • Experience in a global or matrixed organization is preferred.
  • Knowledge of job architecture, grading structures, or compensation benchmarking is preferred.
  • Experience with audits or compliance-focused HR work is preferred.
  • Exposure to process improvement or operational optimization is preferred.
  • Experience working with cross-functional HR stakeholders is preferred.
  • English proficiency is required.
  • Minimal travel is expected, with occasional domestic travel if needed.
  • HR or compensation certifications, such as CIPD, are preferred but not mandatory.

Additional information

Johnson & Johnson has announced plans to separate its Orthopaedics business into a standalone company operating as DePuy Synthes. The separation is expected to be completed within 18 to 24 months, subject to legal requirements, consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies where required, regulatory approvals, and other customary conditions. If hired, employment is expected to transfer to DePuy Synthes after the transaction closes, and future employment terms, programs, policies, and benefits would be governed by DePuy Synthes. Any planned changes would be shared at the appropriate time and in line with applicable consultation processes.
