Role Overview

Key Duties

  • Carry out cleaning tasks in line with infection prevention and control practices.
  • Perform sweeping, mopping, dusting, polishing, and vacuuming as needed.
  • Remove waste, clean washrooms, and complete post-discharge cleaning.
  • Follow procedures for admission rooms, discharge rooms, and client spaces affected by isolation or outbreak protocols.
  • Inspect rooms and ensure they meet required cleanliness standards.
  • Protect equipment and report any issues or deficiencies.
  • Escalate damages, shortages, and disruptions to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Respond to reasonable client or team requests courteously and calmly.
  • Monitor and replenish consumable supplies when required.
  • Observe workplace health and safety rules and company practices at all times.
  • Take on additional tasks as assigned.

Experience and Skills

The preferred background includes completion of secondary school or a suitable Home Support Program. A minimum of one year in a similar role is preferred, though relevant life experience may also be considered. The role requires the ability to travel locally between assignments, work independently with minimal supervision, and maintain consistently strong service standards.

Personal Qualities

  • Positive attitude, energy, and the stamina needed for the demands of the job.
  • Dependable, punctual, and cooperative in a team setting.
  • Customer-focused approach with a friendly manner that reflects the company’s reputation.
  • Good verbal and written communication in English.
  • Effective prioritization and time management.
  • Ability to work efficiently while maintaining quality.
  • Physical capability to lift up to 23 kg and to stand, bend, squat, kneel, and reach freely.

Compensation and Benefits

The employer offers a competitive salary, comprehensive health insurance, generous paid time off, and opportunities to advance within the organization.

Hiring and Compliance Notes

Base pay is set within an established range using clear criteria such as skills, experience, and the role’s organizational contribution, with consideration for both internal equity and market competitiveness. Depending on provincial regulations and the duties of the role, new hires may need to provide proof of vaccination against certain illnesses, including COVID-19, Hepatitis, or seasonal influenza. Candidates may also need to submit a clear criminal background check and vulnerable sector screening.
