Job description
About the role
The University of Warwick’s Campus Cleaning Services team in the Estates Department is hiring a Cleaning Assistant to support its non-residential cleaning operations. The service covers a large campus footprint, including 7,076 bedrooms, 479 hotel rooms, and 65 university buildings.
This post is focused on cleaning offices, teaching rooms, the Arts Centre, the Library, and other campus spaces. The standard working pattern is from 6:00am to 10:00am, five days a week, totaling 20 hours. This is a 5-days-over-7 arrangement, so weekend working on Saturdays and Sundays is a regular part of the rota.
About you
The role suits someone who collaborates well with others, contributes positively to a team, and is committed to delivering strong service to students, staff, and visitors. The employer notes that the detailed experience and skill criteria are set out in the attached job description.
Department and university information
This position sits within the Campus Cleaning Services function of the Estates Office. The university describes itself as a research-intensive institution founded in 1965, ranked 74th globally and 9th in the UK, with 92% of research rated world-leading or internationally excellent.
How to apply
The application deadline is Thursday 25 June at 11:55pm UK time. Applicants must complete the application form and submit two attachments: a CV and a cover letter. The cover letter should set out employment and education history, including the most recent role, and explain how the essential and desirable criteria are met using clear examples.
The hiring team may not shortlist candidates who do not clearly evidence the essential criteria. Interview dates are yet to be confirmed. The intended start date is as soon as possible. Applications must be submitted through the university’s careers portal before the closing time, as the advert will close automatically at the deadline. Career breaks such as parental leave, caring responsibilities, or long-term sickness absence may be included in the application.
Benefits and working environment
The university offers an attractive pension scheme, 26 days of annual leave plus the Christmas closure period, generous parental and adoption leave, onsite childcare facilities, and strong learning and development support. Flexible working options are available, and the institution identifies itself as a Living Wage employer.
