Commis Chef

Role overview

Talbot Hotel Midleton, part of the Talbot Collection, is looking for a full-time Commis Chef to join its kitchen team in Midleton, County Cork. The role focuses on preparing and serving food while keeping all kitchen areas clean, organised, and compliant with hotel hygiene standards and regulations. This position reports to the Head Chef and Senior Chefs.

Main duties

• Prepare and serve food to the required standard.
• Follow cleaning schedules and complete daily and weekly checklists for all assigned cleaning tasks.
• Wash and store pots, pans, and kitchen equipment correctly and neatly.
• Remove waste bins when full or whenever asked.
• Carry out detailed deep-cleaning of kitchen, larder, equipment, and storage areas according to the set schedule.
• Keep storage areas for mops, brushes, and detergents tidy and organised.
• Report any damaged or faulty equipment to the senior chef on duty.
• Support the customer relations policy and help maintain 4-star standards at all times.

Candidate profile

The ideal applicant should be enthusiastic about food quality and presentation, hold HACCP training, and maintain a strong focus on hygiene. A professional presentation and a positive attitude are important, along with the ability to work well in a fast-paced team kitchen. Flexibility is required, including availability for rotating shifts, 5 days out of 7, with weekend work included.
