Role overview

This is a remote, people-centered position supporting a global open-source community from Ireland. The role focuses on helping contributors, users, and enthusiasts feel welcome, informed, and valued across online spaces, live events, and community touchpoints. It combines community engagement, storytelling, content support, and event coordination, with close collaboration across community, marketing, and moderation partners.

The position is being handled for a partner organization, which will manage applications and the next steps in the hiring process.

What you will do

Develop and publish community-focused stories such as contributor features, project updates, and personal narratives that highlight the community’s wider impact.
Help run the community’s Discord presence by greeting members, sparking discussions, supporting events like AMAs and watch parties, and maintaining a friendly, inclusive atmosphere.
Support the upkeep and growth of social media channels alongside marketing stakeholders, making sure the content feels genuine, engaging, and aligned with the community’s tone.
Assist with planning and delivering online and in-person events, including conferences, meetups, and industry appearances, covering logistics, communications, and post-event content.
Help manage contributor recognition efforts, including swag coordination, so contributors are acknowledged promptly and meaningfully.
Collect, edit, and repurpose community assets such as videos, event summaries, and tutorials to strengthen engagement and storytelling.
Partner with moderators and cross-functional teams to keep community spaces healthy, active, and aligned with the organization’s values.

What the role requires

2 to 3 years of experience in community management, social media, communications, content creation, or a similar field.
Practical experience participating in or managing Discord communities, including moderation, engagement, or community-building work.
Ability to run social media accounts with meaningful interaction and audience engagement, not just surface-level metrics.
Background in supporting or organizing events, including coordination, logistics, or on-site execution.
Strong organization and prioritization skills for a fast-paced, community-led environment.
Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
Basic video editing skills are an advantage.
Must be located in Europe and legally able to work in the region.
Knowledge of open-source communities, smart home products, or Home Assistant is a plus.
