Job description
Role Overview
This position is for a Contracts Manager based in Mumbai. The role focuses on managing contracts across the project lifecycle, with a strong emphasis on tendering, pre-contract work, commercial control, risk handling, compliance, and document coordination.
Contract Administration
- Examine, interpret, and manage contract agreements, including FIDIC, CPWD, MoRTH, and client-specific formats.
- Make sure project execution stays aligned with contractual obligations, technical specifications, and applicable statutory rules.
- Draft and circulate contractual communication such as letters, notices, and related correspondence.
- Oversee subcontractor agreements from drafting through negotiation and final closure.
Tendering and Pre-Contract Support
- Go through tender papers, BOQs, specifications, and drawings in detail.
- Spot contractual risks, unclear clauses, and commercial exposures before award.
- Prepare clarifications, deviations, and bid submissions for tender responses.
- Support cost estimates, rate analysis, and budget planning.
Claims and Dispute Handling
- Build and present delay claims, EOT claims, cost claims, and variation statements.
- Keep thorough records of delays, disruptions, and all relevant correspondence.
- Work with clients, consultants, and legal stakeholders to settle disputes.
- Monitor claim progress and ensure submissions are made within contractual timelines.
Commercial Management
- Track project budgets, cash flow, and overall cost performance.
- Review and approve subcontractor bills.
- Prepare monthly client invoices, measurement records, and backup documentation.
- Handle price escalation, tax, insurance, and other contract-related adjustments.
Risk, Compliance, and Coordination
- Identify commercial and contractual risks and recommend practical mitigation steps.
- Ensure alignment with company policies and legal obligations.
- Check that performance guarantees, insurances, and bonds are adequate and valid.
- Coordinate closely with project, finance, procurement, and planning teams.
- Maintain an organised repository of contract-related records and documents.
- Facilitate meetings on contract, commercial, and risk topics.
- Train project teams on their contractual responsibilities and obligations.
