About the role

Join the AWO community at the Lübbenau site and contribute to a workplace that focuses on social responsibility and practical support for people. The organization has been committed to social fairness since 1990 and operates 170 facilities in Southern Brandenburg with the help of 2,500 volunteers and 2,900 employees.

The kitchen team at the Spreewald workshops in Lübbenau consists of five staff members and four supported employees. Together, the team prepares up to 700 meals for employees of the Spreewald workshops, staff of the AWO district association Brandenburg South e. V., and children’s day care centers. In addition, the kitchen provides catering for internal AWO meetings and events in Lübbenau. The workshops belong to the inclusion support department and are part of a vocational rehabilitation setting serving more than 380 people with disabilities across four locations.

What this position involves

  • Preparing meals independently according to the menu plan while considering quality, cost, allergies, customer preferences, and required quantities
  • Helping shape menu planning by incorporating seasonal ingredients and suitable preparation methods
  • Supporting purchasing planning, goods receipt checks, and stock management
  • Preparing and documenting retention samples
  • Applying HACCP rules and food hygiene standards, including the required records
  • Delivering meals and serving food
  • Taking part in team meetings and contributing to day-to-day coordination

What we are looking for

You should have completed training as a cook, assistant cook, or hold an equivalent qualification. Experience with gentle cooking methods, reduced-fat and nutrient-preserving preparation, as well as cooking for daycare centers, is desirable. The role also calls for openness, empathy, strong communication skills, a structured and flexible way of working, reliability, accountability, team spirit, constructive handling of feedback, loyalty, and basic PC skills, especially in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel and Word. A category B driving licence is required, together with the willingness to carry out necessary trips under the supervision of people with disabilities and using the existing vehicle fleet.
