Role Overview

This position focuses on managing the customs clearance process for freight documentation and supporting customers with guidance on customs rules in both origin and destination countries. The role may involve shift-based working patterns.

Key Duties

  • Manage customs clearance paperwork and processes for the customer portfolio.
  • Deal with customs authorities on a daily basis.
  • Provide high-quality service to customers at all times.
  • Act as the go-to person for customs compliance matters and help resolve customer issues.
  • Support reviews of policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Help ensure that the correct regulatory requirements are in place for every customer and business case.
  • Spot opportunities for improvement, compliance risks, and IT solutions that strengthen control and efficiency.
  • Use the Expeditors network to encourage a consistent regional approach and share best practices.
  • Handle assigned key accounts and make sure client needs are met.
  • Keep customs knowledge current and apply new regulations when they change.
  • Make sure duty and VAT are calculated, processed, and collected correctly.
  • Follow up on questions, refunds, and related issues until they are resolved.
  • Review, update, and retain all DLSOPs, ensuring they are current and effectively applied.
  • Support Sales and Account Management with cost-saving ideas and options.
  • Carry out daily and weekly audits on all entries.
  • Stay informed about the latest customs regulation updates and amendments.
  • Help train new team members and keep existing staff updated on changes.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have 1 to 2 years of experience in the customs industry, strong knowledge of Irish customs procedures and systems, good interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively with both customers and internal colleagues at all levels. Familiarity with Word, Excel, Windows, email, and other PC-based software is also required.
