Job description

About Mochi Health

Mochi Health is tackling one of healthcare’s biggest pain points: helping people find the right care, understand costs upfront, and access the medicines they need. The company is building an AI-powered healthcare marketplace that improves discovery, connects patients with appropriate providers, surfaces transparent pharmacy pricing, and supports affordable medication access.

Over time, the platform has expanded by combining clinical expertise with practical technology designed for real patients and care teams. It offers clear pricing before checkout, personalized medication management that can continue across providers, and durable access to medical records. The mission is to make care more affordable, more intuitive, and more human.

This is a chance to join a team focused on rebuilding healthcare around the patient. The culture values ambitious thinking, inclusive teamwork, and shipping work that matters.

Role Overview

Mochi Health is looking for a Data Scientist to help scale operations for its telehealth business. The operations function is central to delivering care, but growing care delivery comes with complexity and inefficiencies. In this role, you will bring analytical rigor and engineering-minded execution to make operations easier to understand and improve.

You will own dashboards, streamline workflows, identify blockers, and develop internal tools that help the team operate faster and with less friction. The position suits someone who enjoys autonomy, practical problem-solving, and messy real-world systems.

What You'll Do

  • Lead operational analytics from metric definition through dashboard rollout and adoption by stakeholders.
  • Create KPIs and measurement frameworks that improve accountability, reveal bottlenecks, and uncover automation opportunities.
  • Reduce manual work by building automations with Python, APIs, and simple internal tools.
  • Use AI and LLM-based workflows where they clearly improve speed, quality, or scale.
  • Apply experimentation, forecasting, and causal reasoning to support operational decision-making when appropriate.
  • Choose the right solution for each problem, whether that is a dashboard, script, internal application, or another lightweight workflow.
  • Work closely with operations, product, and leadership teams to turn unclear problems into practical systems and measurable improvements.

What We're Looking For

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in a quantitative discipline such as Statistics or Engineering.
  • At least 2 years of experience using data to solve product, marketing, or business challenges.
  • Strong skills in Python and SQL, with an emphasis on clean and maintainable code.
  • Hands-on experience building dashboards and internal tools, including tools like Streamlit.
  • A self-directed mindset with curiosity and a focus on high-impact work.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex ideas clearly to different audiences.
  • Comfort working through ambiguity and shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation and Employment Details

This is a full-time onsite role based in San Francisco, CA, with a five-day in-office workweek. The posted base salary range is $140,000 to $180,000, plus equity and benefits. Final compensation depends on factors such as skills, experience, relevant education or training, and location.

Life at Mochi

  • Daily meals and an espresso bar, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner on weekdays, plus an on-site barista serving espresso and matcha throughout the day.
  • Pre-tax commuter benefits for transit and parking savings.
  • Competitive compensation with equity participation.
  • A rapidly growing, profitable business with a focus on long-term sustainability.
  • Work with a highly experienced team and contribute to high-impact healthcare improvements.
  • Comprehensive benefits, including a 401(k) with matching, generous time off, life insurance, and medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Unlimited PTO, company holidays, and flexible time off to rest and recharge.
  • Wellness support through mindfulness sessions, group workouts, and fitness perks.
  • Regular social events, happy hours, and community-building activities, plus a well-stocked kitchen.
  • A downtown San Francisco headquarters near BART, Muni, and local food options, designed for focused work and collaboration.
