We are a trusted household name, committed to fostering a caring, innovative, and growth-oriented environment. Our core values—Caring, Inclusive, and Courageous—guide us in building a healthier future for people, pets, and the planet.
Role Purpose
This role is designed to leverage advanced data science and machine learning expertise to drive business insights and solutions. You will lead data collection, mining, analysis, and visualization efforts, developing predictive and prescriptive models to meet critical business needs. Collaborating with analytics translators, fellow data scientists, and business stakeholders, you will translate complex business problems into analytically solvable challenges.
Why This Role is Exciting
You will spearhead the creation of efficient and accurate analytical models, from descriptive to prescriptive, and integrate them into data products and tools that deliver tangible business impact. If you are an experienced Data Scientist eager to collaborate with cross-functional teams, solve real-world problems through experimentation, possess a strong intellectual curiosity for data-driven inquiry, and seek an environment that promotes learning and significant contributions to the oral care industry, we encourage you to apply.
Responsibilities
- Lead comprehensive analytical studies on diverse datasets to address various business problems, including forecasting, classification, clustering, pattern analysis, and simulations, working alongside junior data scientists.
- Collaborate in developing a strategic analytics roadmap for your assigned business domain.
- Employ exploratory statistical and mathematical techniques to interpret and analyze both structured and unstructured data, identifying trends, anomalies, and quantifying business outcomes.
- Integrate data science outputs into user-facing applications and tools in partnership with data engineers, business leaders, analysts, and developers.
- Develop, deploy, maintain, and refresh end-to-end, scalable, and interpretable models that are seamlessly embedded within analytic data products.
- Identify opportunities to source or create new data to address use cases with limited existing data.
- Partner with data engineers to cleanse, transform, and organize data, and to define data models and assets.
- Lead the development of analytical assets, such as code libraries and ML architectures, and data assets, including external or partnership-based data.
- Design and execute experiments using the scientific method, effectively communicate experimental findings, and propose innovative solutions to data challenges.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on industry and field trends, guiding analytic development towards best practices and state-of-the-art methodologies.
- Clearly articulate the analytics approach and its alignment with business objectives to stakeholders.
- Explain complex analytical principles and methodologies to business partners and senior management in an accessible, non-technical manner.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience within the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) or Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) sector.
- Academic background includes a Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Econometrics, or a related quantitative field.
- Possess at least 6 years of hands-on experience with programming languages such as Python and R.
- Preferred qualifications include a Master's or PhD degree and demonstrated success in sales analytics or e-commerce use cases.
Functional Competencies
- Proficiency in SQL implementations across various database systems (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, DB2).
- Proven ability to translate business challenges into effective data pipelines and model frameworks.
- Demonstrated expertise in both supervised and unsupervised modeling techniques, including regression, classification, feature selection, clustering, decision trees/forests, SVM, ensembling, stacking, and dimensionality reduction.
- Solid understanding of Bayesian statistics and causal inference principles.
- Strong capabilities in Natural Language Processing (NLP).
- Expertise in data visualization techniques and tools (e.g., Plotly, Matplotlib, ggplot2, Shiny, Dash, Tableau).
- Experience working with large datasets and distributed computing environments (e.g., Spark).
- Proficiency with statistical tools/packages (e.g., SciKit) and machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch).
- Familiarity with database and data engineering concepts, including real-time data processing, metadata systems, data pipeline monitoring, and ETL/ELT processes, particularly on cloud platforms like Google Cloud Platform.
