Day Cleaner

About the Role

Northern News Services is hiring a full-time day cleaner for the Stanton Legacy Building in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. The role focuses on keeping the facility clean, organized, and safe while supporting final-stage construction activities.

Work Schedule

This is a Monday to Friday position with an 8-hour workday. Shifts run between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain assigned areas by cleaning and replenishing supplies as needed.
• Carry out routine cleaning tasks such as dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning ceiling vents, and sanitizing restrooms.
• Inspect areas regularly and keep track of routine checks.
• Report any repair needs or other issues to management promptly.
• Organize, stock, and maintain supply rooms.
• Work cooperatively with other team members.
• Follow all workplace health and safety rules.

Requirements

• Previous hands-on experience in cleaning work.
• Working knowledge of cleaning agents, chemicals, and supplies.
• Understanding of Material Safety Data Sheets.
• Ability to operate cleaning equipment and machinery.
• High level of integrity and strong interpersonal skills.

Compensation

The pay range is $25.00 to $30.00 per hour, depending on experience.
