About Beast Industries

Beast Industries is a dynamic media and entertainment company founded by Jimmy Donaldson (MrBeast), the world's most-watched individual. We are pioneers in digital content creation, with a broad reach across digital media, philanthropy, consumer products, and innovative business ventures. Our core mission is to entertain, inspire, and drive positive social change through creativity and innovation.

Design Engineer Role Overview

We are seeking a Design Engineer who possesses a strong blend of design sensibility, engineering expertise, and product ownership. This role sits at the intersection of design and engineering, focusing on transforming concepts into high-quality, performant, and production-ready user interfaces within our React ecosystem. You will collaborate closely with design and product teams from the outset, actively shaping the UI through actual code, developing reusable components, and delivering intuitive and intentional interaction patterns. Emphasis is placed on motion, accessibility, and responsive design as fundamental requirements.

What Success Looks Like

  • Development of high-quality, reusable React components that are widely adopted by various teams.
  • Delivery of production UI that is perceived as fast, intuitive, and consistent.
  • Implementation of smooth, purposeful motion that enhances user experience and clarity.
  • Establishment of a strong collaborative partnership with design and engineering throughout the entire product lifecycle.
  • Significant contributions to the evolution of our design system and component architecture.

Key Responsibilities

Design + Engineering Quality

  • Construct polished, production-ready user interfaces utilizing React, Next.js, and Tailwind CSS.
  • Integrate motion, micro-interactions, and transitions using Framer Motion or native JavaScript techniques.
  • Enhance and maintain foundational UI elements and components following shadcn/ui principles.
  • Ensure adherence to accessibility standards, responsive design principles, and cross-browser compatibility.
  • Optimize interaction performance and the smoothness of animations.
  • Translate design concepts from Figma into high-fidelity code, ensuring clear states and user flows.

Collaborative Design Delivery

  • Engage with designers early in the process to refine components, interactions, and UI states.
  • Develop prototypes for interaction concepts and motion-intensive user flows in code.
  • Provide engineering perspectives to improve design feasibility and clarity.
  • Facilitate rapid iteration cycles using live UI rather than relying solely on static handoffs.

Product Integration & Ownership

  • Take full ownership of UI development for features from inception to completion.
  • Manage interaction logic, state management, and handle complex edge cases.
  • Actively participate in sprint planning, effort estimation, and cross-functional team reviews.

Design System & Reusability

  • Expand and refine the existing design system, leveraging shadcn/ui, Tailwind tokens, and established reusable patterns.
  • Create comprehensive documentation for component usage, motion guidelines, and best practices.
  • Champion and enforce UI consistency across all product interfaces.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in frontend engineering or design engineering roles.
  • Demonstrated strong experience with React.
  • Proficiency in using Tailwind CSS and understanding component-driven UI architectures.
  • Proven experience in implementing polished user interfaces with smooth, high-performance motion.
  • Solid understanding of accessibility, responsive design, and core UI principles.
  • Comfort and experience in close collaboration with designers and product management teams.

Preferred Skills

  • Prior experience with Framer Motion.
  • Familiarity with headless component systems like shadcn/ui.
  • Capability to prototype effectively in both Figma and code.
  • Experience in contributing to or maintaining a design system.
  • A well-developed sense of visual and interaction design.

Key Metrics for Impact

  • High reuse and adoption rates of developed components.
  • Improved UI performance and interaction responsiveness.
  • Reduced time required for design-to-code iterations.
  • Enhanced accessibility and consistency across all product surfaces.

Additional Information

The target total compensation for this role ranges from $170,000 to $210,000 annually, in addition to an employee equity plan grant, a potential bonus, and comprehensive benefits.
