Disability Support Worker

Role overview

We are hiring a caring and reliable Disability Support Worker to assist people with disabilities in their everyday routines, wellbeing, and participation in the community. This role focuses on encouraging independence while delivering practical and emotional support tailored to each client’s needs.

Key responsibilities

• Offer companionship and emotional encouragement to clients
• Support clients with moving around safely and getting to appointments or other destinations
• Assist with medication administration and observe health-related changes
• Help prepare meals and complete household duties
• Work alongside healthcare staff and family members to deliver well-rounded care
• Keep records accurate and up to date

Qualifications and experience

• Previous experience supporting people with disabilities
• Good verbal communication and people skills
• Comfortable working on your own as well as within a team
• Kind, patient, and supportive approach
• Able to respond calmly to difficult behaviours or situations
• Understanding of disability rights and advocacy
