Role summary

The Dispatch Rider position is a full-time, on-site role in Uganda. The selected person will be responsible for moving packages, documents, and other items safely and on time between the office, clients, and external contacts. The role also includes route planning, staying in touch with the office during deliveries, handling items carefully, and carrying out basic checks to keep the assigned motorcycle safe and operational. Additional transport and support duties may be assigned when needed.

Key duties

• Deliver parcels, documents, and other items accurately and within the required timeframe.
• Plan delivery routes in a practical and efficient way.
• Keep the office informed about delivery progress and any relevant updates.
• Protect items in transit and ensure they are handled with care.
• Perform routine inspection and basic upkeep of the assigned motorcycle to support safe operation.
• Assist with other transportation-related and support tasks as required.

Candidate profile

The ideal applicant should be skilled in motorcycle riding and hold a valid rider’s permit. A strong understanding of road safety, traffic laws, and route navigation within Uganda is important. The role also calls for good planning ability, clear communication, punctuality, reliability, honesty, and a strong sense of accountability. Basic motorcycle maintenance knowledge is expected, and previous experience in dispatch or delivery work will be considered an advantage.

Qualifications

• Ability to ride motorcycles confidently, supported by a valid rider’s permit.
• Good familiarity with traffic regulations, road safety practices, and routes across Uganda.
• Strong organization and time-management skills for efficient delivery planning.
• Clear communication skills for interacting with clients and coordinating with office staff.
• Basic motorcycle maintenance knowledge to keep the bike in working condition.
• Dependable, honest, and responsible work ethic.
• Experience in dispatching or delivery work is a plus.
