Job description
Role overview
Goodstart Early Learning is looking for a Diploma-qualified Educational Leader to join the Port Kennedy centre in Western Australia. This position is based at 40 Trevino Dr, Port Kennedy WA 6172. The role is offered as a full-time position of 38 hours per week, with a part-time option of 30 hours per week.
Pay is between $39.35 and $41.05 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience, plus an additional Educational Leader allowance of $2.68 per hour.
As an Educational Leader, you will work with educators to observe, reflect on, and strengthen the learning programs delivered to children. You will help build the team’s knowledge of child development and early years learning, support the use of the Early Years Learning Framework, and work alongside centre leadership to drive improvement and best practice.
About the centre
Goodstart Port Kennedy is a 99-place centre with five learning rooms: Nursery, Tiny Tots, Toddler, Pre-Kindy, and Kindergarten. The service includes three outdoor play spaces designed for age-appropriate experiences and good supervision, plus a shared vegetable garden that children and staff care for together. The centre also has a welcoming foyer, a dedicated planning and programming office, and a staff room for breaks.
The centre is well located near Warnbro Shopping Centre, with nearby access to shops, cafés, and other amenities. Public transport is convenient, with bus stops on San Sebastian Boulevard and Laguardia Loop, and bicycle storage is available. Staff also benefit from free onsite parking.
The leadership team is described as experienced and supportive, including a Centre Director with 15 years of early childhood experience, an Assistant Director, and an Administration team. The workplace culture is warm, collaborative, flexible, and family-friendly, with strong communication and teamwork. The centre also celebrates a multicultural community that includes families and staff from New Zealand, India, Pakistan, China, Japan, Italy, South America, and First Nations peoples, with languages such as Portuguese, Hindi, Punjabi, and Māori represented in the community.
The centre’s vision is to provide a safe, creative, and diverse environment where children can thrive, learn, and express themselves, while building strong relationships with families, community, and one another.
Key duties
You will lead change, lift practice quality, and support excellence across the centre. The role involves working with educators to review learning programs, strengthen understanding of child development, and guide implementation of early learning principles. You will also partner with the leadership team to improve educational practice and support an inclusive environment for all children.
Pay and benefits
Goodstart offers a range of benefits, including pay aligned with state primary school teachers for eligible qualifications, 50% off childcare gap fees, and up to 6 weeks of paid parental leave. Additional benefits include Fitness Passport access for you and your family, paid professional development, two wellbeing days within personal leave each year, an optional free annual flu shot, the ability to buy extra leave, First Nations support and cultural leave, retail discounts on insurance, travel, and technology, a uniform allowance, and an employee referral program.

A strong grasp of the Early Years Learning Framework and the National Quality Standards is essential, along with a sound understanding of inclusive practice, legal requirements, and approaches that ensure every child is supported in their learning journey.
