Electrical Estimator

Role overview

King & Moffatt Building Services is expanding and is looking for an Electrical Estimator to produce precise, on-time project estimates across the full tender cycle, from early pre-tender work through to post-tender follow-up. The role also involves steady communication with relevant internal and external stakeholders throughout the estimating process to help secure the best commercial outcome for the business.

Key responsibilities

• Keep estimating activity flowing smoothly so the business can continue to operate effectively across both Ireland and the UK.
• Manage each tender in a consistent way and in line with company procedures.
• Build knowledge of actual installation times and compare completed projects against budgets to identify any variances.
• Support the estimating team in meeting the business unit’s revenue targets by contributing accurate estimates delivered on time.
• Work with colleagues across the company to identify, share, and apply better ways of working.
• Prepare every tender in a clear, accurate, and standardised format, following company policies, standards, and processes while accounting for construction, technical, and commercial risks.
• Complete detailed take-offs and measurements, then enter the information into estimating software so the project’s true prime cost is fully understood.
• Review incoming enquiries and issue accurate supplier and subcontractor enquiries within required deadlines.
• Work with specialist subcontractors and assess their quotations to confirm they are complete and compliant with the specification.
• Develop product substitution proposals and value engineering options.
• Stay current with market pricing, competition, and workload levels so estimates remain competitive and relevant.

Requirements

• Prior experience working as an Electrical Estimator or preparing electrical estimates.
• Knowledge of electrical installations is helpful, though not mandatory.
• Bachelor’s degree level qualification in Engineering or a related discipline.
• Working understanding of health and safety requirements.
• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
