Job description

Role Overview

Guardian Industries is looking for an Electrical Maintenance Engineer to support the electrical and control systems used in a glass production line in Al Jubayl, Saudi Arabia. This role focuses on keeping equipment dependable, reducing breakdowns, and driving preventive as well as predictive maintenance across electrical and automation assets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out maintenance work on electrical equipment such as magnetron sputtering units, power supplies, PLCs, variable drives, sensors, and control cabinets.
  • Diagnose faults and restore operation in electrical and electronic systems connected to the glass furnace and transport equipment.
  • Plan and execute preventive maintenance programs for electrical assets on the coating line.
  • Help production teams reduce unexpected electrical stoppages and improve overall machine uptime.
  • Track electrical performance trends and contribute to root cause investigations for repeated electrical or automation issues.
  • Keep technical records current, including schematics, maintenance histories, and breakdown reports.
  • Work closely with mechanical, automation, and process teams to improve reliability and equipment output.
  • Suggest and apply enhancements to electrical layout, control logic, and energy usage.
  • Oversee spare-parts availability for electrical components and coordinate with suppliers for sourcing and technical assistance.
  • Ensure all maintenance work follows safety rules, lockout/tagout practices, and applicable regulations.

Required Background

  • A bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a closely related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience maintaining electrical systems in continuous-process environments.
  • Good understanding of industrial electrical infrastructure, including distribution systems, control circuits, and motor drives.
  • Hands-on exposure to PLC programming, fault finding, and integration of control systems such as Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or equivalent platforms.
  • Ability to understand electrical schematics, wiring drawings, and control logic diagrams.
  • Knowledge of instrumentation, sensors, and process control setups.
  • Comfortable communicating in English.
  • Strong analytical thinking and troubleshooting ability.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently under pressure and, if needed, in rotating shifts.

Additional Advantages

  • Previous experience in glass manufacturing, including architectural, automotive, or solar glass production.
  • Practical familiarity with vacuum coating equipment, high-voltage power supplies, and industrial networks such as Profibus, Modbus, and Ethernet/IP.
  • Exposure to SCADA platforms and industrial communication systems.
  • Experience using CMMS tools such as SAP PM or EAM.
  • Certification in electrical safety, automation, or reliability engineering will be considered beneficial.

Working Conditions

  • This is a factory-based position with exposure to high-voltage equipment, vacuum systems, and production machinery.
  • Shift work or emergency on-call coverage may be required.
  • Personal protective equipment must be worn, and strict safety procedures must always be followed.
