Engineering Manager

Role overview

Emirates Flight Catering is looking for an Engineering Manager to lead maintenance, safety, quality, and engineering performance across operations in Dubai. The position is focused on keeping equipment reliable, managing projects efficiently, and ensuring that all engineering activity aligns with business goals, cost limits, and compliance standards.

Key responsibilities

• Put safe work practices into action, track compliance with safety rules, and help reduce risk to people, equipment, and company assets.
• Make sure operations follow ISO 9001:2015 requirements and internal policies so quality and customer satisfaction remain consistently strong.
• Deliver engineering and maintenance projects on time, within budget, and according to agreed technical specifications.
• Plan and control maintenance calendars so they are practical, well-structured, and effective in reducing equipment downtime.
• Identify equipment faults quickly and coordinate fixes to restore functionality and keep operations running smoothly.
• Organize repair work and spending approvals in a way that is timely, economical, and within departmental budget limits.
• Maintain stock at suitable levels so the team always has the materials and supplies needed to avoid operational interruptions.
• Set out team responsibilities clearly and communicate expectations so accountability and strong performance are maintained.
• Establish performance goals for team members, review progress regularly, and provide feedback that supports company objectives.
• Review operational and equipment data, spot opportunities for improvement, and implement optimization initiatives that improve plant efficiency.

Education and certifications

A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or another relevant technical discipline is required. A master’s degree in Engineering Management, Project Management, or a similar subject is preferred. Additional certifications in quality management systems such as ISO 9001:2015, maintenance management, or safety standards like NEBOSH or OSHA will be considered an advantage.

Professional experience

The role calls for at least 7 years of progressive experience in engineering, maintenance, or plant operations, ideally in an industrial, manufacturing, or catering environment. Candidates should have a strong record of leading engineering teams and completing maintenance or operational projects within budget and schedule. Practical troubleshooting experience, familiarity with ISO-based systems, and the ability to analyze data for process improvement are all important.

Skills and strengths

This position requires a solid grasp of preventive and reactive maintenance methods, hands-on fault diagnosis, project delivery, quality management systems, and compliance with safety and operational standards.
