Role overview

The Engineering Technician will support manufacturing engineering operations at the Sligo site, helping keep production and utility equipment available, reliable, and compliant. The role also requires close adherence to standards covering personnel, quality, engineering, safety, and finance.

Key duties

  • Carry out scheduled preventive maintenance and respond to unplanned maintenance needs on manufacturing and utility systems.
  • Work with Production to help equipment run at the best possible level.
  • Keep accurate maintenance records and engineering documentation up to date.
  • Coordinate with internal and external engineering teams and contract maintenance providers for troubleshooting, installation, and commissioning work.
  • Support equipment projects and process improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Agree department objectives, timelines, and work schedules with the engineering team leader.
  • Keep current with technology developments relevant to the site processes.
  • Maintain manufacturing equipment to support reliable operations.
  • Help ensure successful internal, divisional, and corporate audits.
  • Work with the quality calibration coordinator to meet calibration obligations.
  • Complete planned maintenance activities on manufacturing equipment.
  • Perform instrument calibration according to the schedule.
  • Identify and help implement continuous improvement actions for manufacturing equipment.
  • Build capability by cross-training within manufacturing engineering.
  • Follow all safety requirements and safe systems of work.
  • Support equipment and process upgrades as part of continuous improvement efforts.
  • Assist the Production Team so equipment meets output and yield targets.
  • Coordinate with Divisional Engineering where needed.
  • Follow all applicable quality and safety policies.
  • Oversee external contractors when required.
  • Negotiate cost-effective and quality-focused external service arrangements.
  • Carry out investigations and equipment monitoring to improve plant performance, including reducing losses and increasing output and yield.

Requirements

  • A relevant electrical or mechanical trade qualification, or an engineering academic qualification at ordinary degree level or above.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a similar role within a relevant industry.
  • Strong working knowledge of a wide range of manufacturing equipment, such as glass-lined and Hastelloy reactors, thermal oxidizers, filter dryers, vacuum pumps, universal milling machines, isolators, purified water systems, air handling units, and utilities.
