Role Overview
ERG is looking for an early-career Environmental Scientist to contribute to projects focused on drinking water, water quality, related regulations, and infrastructure. This position is well suited to a recent graduate or someone at the beginning of their career who is interested in water resources, environmental planning, and regulatory or utility-sector work. The selected candidate will help deliver technical support to a variety of federal, state, and other client projects.
What You Will Do
- Provide hands-on technical assistance for projects related to water and environmental topics.
- Support research, information gathering, analysis, and stakeholder engagement connected to drinking water, water quality, regulations, and related subject matter.
- Help create materials for both technical specialists and broader audiences, along with other project deliverables.
- Assist with environmental planning reviews for infrastructure proposals, including Environmental Assessments and Categorical Exclusion reviews under the National Environmental Policy Act.
- Contribute to compliance efforts, technical assistance work, and related project activities.
- Work alongside scientists, engineers, policy professionals, communications staff, and other team members to advance client goals.
- Support project coordination, administrative tasks, and proposal or business development work when needed.
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in environmental science or a closely related field.
- Zero to three years of relevant academic or professional experience.
- Strong ability to analyze information, research issues, and solve problems.
- Clear written and spoken communication skills.
- Good time-management skills and the ability to handle several priorities at once while meeting deadlines.
- Comfort working independently as well as in a collaborative team setting.
- Helpful background includes coursework or research related to the water sector and a foundational understanding of environmental regulations.
