Opportunity Overview

Sandvik Mining is seeking a meticulous Estimator to join its workshop team in Kenwick, WA. This is a permanent, full-time role focused on preparing accurate quotes and costings for service, repair, and maintenance work in a busy workshop setting.

The position has a strong office component, but it also requires regular involvement with workshop operations and the sales team. You will work across internal functions and external contacts to assess the scope of work, calculate labour and material costs, and help drive customer satisfaction and business performance.

The role may also involve occasional visits to customer and supplier locations, including mine sites and industrial facilities. These visits require strict compliance with safety procedures and PPE requirements, so adaptability and a strong safety mindset are important.

Key Responsibilities

• Build detailed estimates for service and repair work, covering labour, materials, and any third-party services.
• Work closely with workshop supervisors, technicians, and procurement staff to define work scope and cost it accurately.
• Communicate with customers and suppliers to confirm requirements and obtain competitive pricing.
• Keep clear and accurate records of estimates, job outcomes, and cost differences.
• Contribute to ongoing improvement by enhancing estimation tools and work practices.

Candidate Profile

To succeed in this role, you should bring a trade background or an engineering qualification, along with hands-on estimating experience in a workshop, maintenance, or manufacturing environment. A solid understanding of workshop processes, materials, and labour cost structures is essential.

You should also be confident using Excel and ERP systems such as Maximo, and be able to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders. Strong time management, collaboration, and a commitment to safe working practices are also important.
