About the opportunity

Queensland Rail is seeking a permanent Facilities Maintainer to join its Corridor Maintenance Outer North team. The role is based out of Sunshine (Geebung) in Brisbane, although you may occasionally begin and end shifts at the work location rather than the home base. You’ll be part of a team carrying out vegetation control and grounds upkeep across yards, sidings, and other Queensland Rail-owned sites around the network.

Role overview

In this position, you’ll support corridor maintenance activities and help keep rail-adjacent sites tidy, functional, and safe. The work is practical and hands-on, and you’ll use a tablet to manage and close out work orders while coordinating day-to-day tasks with your team.

Key duties

• Attend daily briefings and stay updated on safety matters and work instructions
• Use a tablet to access, review, and complete assigned work orders
• Carry out mowing, whipper-snipping, herbicide application, and related vegetation maintenance tasks
• Move between different sites across the network as required

About you

The ideal candidate brings prior experience in vegetation control and grounds maintenance, along with the ability to work independently and communicate clearly. Familiarity with small plant and equipment used in maintenance work will be valuable.

Selection criteria

• Hands-on background in vegetation management, including whipper-snippers, mowers, preferably zero-turn mowers, and other grounds maintenance equipment
• Comfort working without close supervision
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• MR licence is highly desirable
