Role overview

The City of Iqaluit is hiring a Facilities Worker to support recreation services. This is a permanent, full-time unionized position within the Recreation Department.

Compensation and terms

The position pays $34.25 per hour for a 35-hour workweek. A settlement allowance of $20,907.43 per year is also provided.

What the role involves

Reporting to the Facilities Coordinator, this position helps deliver recreational programming by operating and maintaining key community spaces. Work includes supporting the arena, curling rinks, ball fields, parks, and playgrounds so they remain safe, functional, and ready for public use.

Education and experience

Applicants should have at least Grade 10 or an equivalent level of education. A valid CPR and First Aid certification is required, or the ability to obtain it. The role also calls for up to one year of experience performing custodial or facilities maintenance duties.

Other requirements

An Indigenous language is required. A criminal record check is mandatory for this position.

Preference will be given to Nunavut Land Claim beneficiaries who meet the job criteria, in line with Article 23 of the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement.

Equivalent combinations of education and experience may also be considered.

Les équivalences combinant formation et expérience peuvent être prises en compte. Conformément à l’article 23 de l’Accord sur les revendications territoriales du Nunavut, la priorité sera accordée aux bénéficiaires des revendications territoriales du Nunavut qui répondent aux critères.
