About the role

Symetra is hiring a Financial Data Analyst to join its Division Accounting Team. This position is suited to someone who enjoys improving how work gets done, handling large datasets, and using automation to support a fast-changing environment. The role focuses on modernizing accounting workflows, improving efficiency, and strengthening data quality across the department.

Key responsibilities

Find and put in place process enhancements that improve speed, accuracy, and scalability in accounting operations.
Turn manual workflows into automated, data-led solutions.
Work with teams across functions to support data analysis, reporting, and process improvement efforts.
Create and maintain management reports, dashboards, and supporting documentation.
Use large data sets to produce practical insights that help guide decisions.
Document current workflows and suggest ways to improve them.
Provide support for ad hoc analysis and special projects when needed.

Compensation

The base salary for this role is $79,900 to $133,200 per year, along with eligibility for the company annual bonus program.

Who you are

High school diploma required; a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Computer Science, Information Systems, or Data Analytics is preferred. Equivalent experience may also be considered.
Demonstrated ability to work with large and complex data sets.
Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
High level of accuracy and strong attention to detail.
Ability to juggle multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
Clear written and verbal communication skills.
Self-directed, with the ability to work independently as well as within a team.
Advanced Excel and T-SQL are required.
Python, Power BI, and Snowflake are preferred.
Experience with accounting systems such as Lawson is a plus.

Work authorization

Visa sponsorship and employer-sponsored work visa support are not available for this position. Candidates must already be authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and must keep that authorization throughout employment.

Remote network requirements

Because this is a remote-first role, Symetra requires employees to meet minimum home internet standards. The connection must provide at least 100 Mbps download and 20 Mbps upload, consistent with the FCC definition of broadband. Accepted connection types include fiber, cable, or DSL. Satellite, cellular broadband or hotspot connections, other wireless technologies, and wired dial-up are not allowed. Applicants will be asked to test their internet speed during the application process.

Identity verification

Symetra uses secure hiring practices for every role. After the initial phone screen, candidates must appear on video for all interviews. The company may also take steps at key stages to confirm that applicants are applying under their true identity.
