Job description
Role Overview
The floor staff role supports theatre operations by delivering a strong guest experience across the box office, concessions, and usher functions. Assignment may vary based on theatre needs and employee availability, with scheduling as variable-hour, part-time fixed, part-time regular, or full-time hourly depending on the operation.
Team members are expected to represent the company in line with its mission and policies, maintain regular attendance, respond appropriately in emergencies when needed, keep work areas clean, and follow the dress code.
Core Work Areas
Depending on the shift, the role may involve ticketing, concession service, or ushering duties.
Box Office Duties
- Use the point-of-sale system and handle cash, cards, travelers’ checks, gift cards, discount tickets, passes, and coupons accurately.
- Recommend premium viewing options such as 3D, RPX, and IMAX when appropriate.
- Promote the Regal Crown Club program.
- Sell tickets in compliance with MPAA ratings and theatre policy.
- Answer guest phone calls and questions in a service-oriented manner.
Concession Duties
- Operate the POS system and manage cash, cards, travelers’ checks, gift cards, coupons, and concession inventory with accuracy.
- Promote the Regal Crown Club program.
- Prepare, operate, and clean concession equipment.
- Use upselling and suggestive selling techniques.
- Follow all applicable food safety laws and requirements.
- Observe all federal and state rules on breaks and meal periods.
- Keep alcohol-related certifications and training current where needed.
- Where alcohol is sold and the job includes serving or selling it, meet the legal age required by local or state law.
- Review and understand training materials covering topics such as harassment and discrimination.
Usher Duties
- Tear tickets, collect the correct stub, and direct guests to their auditoriums.
- Inspect backpacks and packages when required.
- Help manage crowd flow and seat guests when needed.
- Enforce MPAA rating rules.
- Check auditoriums during shows for picture/sound quality, safety, and possible theft or content issues.
- Escalate problems, discrepancies, or unusual situations to management.
- Carry out in-auditorium concession sales when directed.
- Clean auditoriums after shows and maintain restrooms, lobby areas, hallways, and other common spaces.
- Monitor the cleanliness and operation of vending equipment.
- Support opening and closing tasks as assigned.
Pay and Benefits
The pay rate is $18.00 per hour. Team members receive free movie passes and discounted concessions at any Regal location. Employees may also join the 401(k) retirement plan with company match after turning 21 and completing six months of service.
Qualifications
Applicants should be able to perform the essential duties successfully and may need reasonable accommodations if disabled. Completion of the cast certification program as a cast member and box office cashier, or progress toward completion, is required.
If the theatre sells alcohol and the role includes alcohol service, the employee must complete any legally required state or local training, obtain the required certificate, and finish Regal Responsible Beverage Server training through Regal Online University.
The job calls for strong public speaking, active listening, clear responses, accurate math, sound judgment, the ability to solve problems under pressure, and strong communication and prioritization skills.
Physical Requirements
The role requires frequent standing, walking, sitting, use of hands, reaching, and speaking or hearing. It may also involve climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Occasional lifting of up to 60 pounds may be required. Vision needs include close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception, along with the ability to adjust focus.
