Foreperson

Working from a local service centre each day, you will oversee a busy yard and the team working within it, helping ensure operational targets are delivered and customers receive a high standard of service.

You will work closely with colleagues, showing strong teamwork and pride in the workplace. A key part of the role is maintaining high standards across the yard and working environment while following company systems and procedures. Clear communication is essential, including keeping your line manager and customers updated when needed.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day work of workshop and yard staff.
• Coordinate equipment returns, repair activity, and stock control within the yard.
• Track all items off-hired, ensuring any damage or repair needs are documented according to company rules and escalated to the Service Centre Manager.
• Manage vehicle movement safely and efficiently in, out of, and around the yard.
• Keep the yard and any covered storage areas clean, orderly, and properly organised, with equipment placed in the correct locations for hire, inspection, or repair.
• Make sure the yard operates in line with health and safety standards and that the team follows the required procedures.
• Ensure all equipment is repaired and maintained in accordance with manufacturer guidance.
• Perform routine stock checks to maintain accurate equipment counts.
• Support and manage yard activity during scheduled stocktakes.
