Job description
About the Role
NHS Property Services is looking for a dependable Gardener to support the upkeep of multiple healthcare locations across central Cornwall. This is a mobile, outdoor-focused position covering sites such as Camborne, Redruth, St Austell, Falmouth, and nearby areas. You will help ensure the grounds remain tidy, safe, and welcoming for NHS colleagues, patients, and visitors.
The role suits someone who enjoys practical work outdoors, is comfortable moving between sites, and takes pride in maintaining high standards across different environments. Work will vary according to the season and the needs of each location, so flexibility is important.
What You'll Do
- Carry out a variety of grounds maintenance and gardening tasks across several sites.
- Complete grass cutting, weed control, pruning, and general landscaping duties.
- Keep roads, paths, and external spaces clean, safe, and easy to access.
- Support winter gritting and other seasonal site maintenance activities.
- Work closely with colleagues to maintain a consistent standard across all locations.
- Use vehicles and equipment safely and appropriately as part of the role.
- Handle routine tasks and day-to-day interactions in a professional work setting, and follow relevant policies and guidance.
What You Need
- Experience in gardening, grounds care, or a similar outdoor maintenance role.
- A full UK driving licence, as travel between sites and use of work vehicles is required.
- Confidence working outside in all weather conditions.
- Strong teamwork and communication abilities.
- A flexible, proactive attitude and willingness to adapt to changing priorities.
Working Pattern
This is a permanent full-time position. You will work 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, from 7:00am to 3:00pm.
Reward Package
- Competitive salary of £26,716 per year.
- 27 days of annual leave plus 8 bank holidays, with an option to purchase extra leave.
- SMART Pension scheme with employer contributions of up to 6%.
- Learning and development support to help progress your career.
- NHS retail discounts and access to the Cycle to Work Scheme.
- Employee Assistance Programme for wellbeing support.
Additional Information
This role contributes to NHS Property Services' wider purpose of supporting healthcare environments, local communities, and its net zero carbon commitment by 2050. The organisation values inclusion and welcomes applications from disabled people, with reasonable adjustments available during recruitment and in the workplace. Diversity is actively encouraged so that every colleague can reach their potential.
