What the Role Involves

  • Performing small-to-medium maintenance and repair work for homes and commercial properties, with projects typically lasting from about two hours to two days.
  • Explaining recommended work to customers and helping set clear expectations around scope and pricing.
  • Delivering service that encourages repeat business and creates long-term customer relationships by following the company’s standard process.
  • Working independently for much of the day and managing your own assignments.
  • Collecting customer payments when required.
  • Using the required tools and being comfortable with technology used in the field.
  • Recording job details and working through the company’s documented process.
  • Wearing proper PPE and protective booties while working in customers’ homes.

Requirements

  • You must live in the local area.
  • At least 8 years of paid handyman experience is required.
  • You need to have your own tools.
  • You must be insurable to drive the company vehicle.
  • Background and driving record checks are part of the hiring process.
  • You should be able to lift up to 50 pounds on your own.
  • You must be able to work at heights and perform overhead tasks for extended periods safely.
  • A professional appearance is expected, along with proper care of the company vehicle.

Technical Strengths Needed

The role expects solid capability in at least three of the following areas: carpentry, bathroom improvements, kitchen improvements, interior and exterior painting, drywall repairs ranging from minor to major, general plumbing and electrical work where legally permitted, floor installation and refinishing, and familiarity with building codes.
