Job description

About the organisation

The hiring organisation is an established business that is currently navigating a busy period of growth and operational demand. To keep pace with this activity, it needs an experienced and flexible HR Advisor to join a small, committed team and provide immediate support across day-to-day HR operations.

Role overview

Reporting to the HR Lead and providing oversight to the output of two HR Coordinators, this position is central to the smooth running of the operational HR function. It calls for someone who combines strong administrative accuracy with practical HR knowledge, ensuring employee records and workforce documentation are completed correctly and in line with compliance requirements.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare and manage offer letters, contract amendments, and other essential employment documents.
  • Check the work completed by HR Coordinators to maintain accuracy, consistency, and compliance.
  • Handle large-volume mail merges, maintain digital filing and archiving, and keep organisational structures and HR systems up to date.
  • Administer SharePoint access, permissions, and document management controls.
  • Respond to escalated general HR enquiries and act as the main link with Payroll for operational and contractual changes.
  • Assist the HR Lead with additional HR projects as needed.

About you

The ideal candidate is highly organised, comfortable working with systems and data, and focused on getting details right. You will be confident in a fast-moving environment, able to stay composed during peak workloads, and capable of working independently with limited supervision.

Requirements

  • Advanced Microsoft Word capability, including strong expertise in mail merges, plus at least intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Hands-on experience managing data, access, and permissions in SharePoint.
  • Solid HR advisory knowledge, including contract changes and onboarding processes.
  • Experience reviewing or quality-checking work completed by junior staff or coordinators.
  • A disciplined, discreet, highly methodical approach and the ability to deliver quality work under pressure and to tight deadlines.

Additional information

This is an on-site contract role based in Wellington, New Zealand. The employer is committed to equal opportunity hiring and values applications from candidates of all backgrounds. The successful applicant should be available to begin immediately. Education noted in the source includes Primary School/Junior High.
