Position overview
The Human Resources Assistant Manager will report to the store-based Area HR Manager and help deliver day-to-day HR support across multiple store locations. The role centers on training, employee relations support, recruiting coordination, payroll-related administration, timekeeping compliance, and maintaining accurate personnel records.
Key responsibilities
- Work closely with the Area Human Resources Manager to support staffing goals and employee relations matters.
- Handle HR administration, including reporting, policy tracking, procedure documentation, and record maintenance.
- Serve as a point of contact for questions related to employee relations, leave requests, paid time off, and workers’ compensation.
- Support interviews, investigations, disciplinary actions, and other store-level HR needs.
- Coordinate with store managers, training teams, payroll, and other internal functions to keep HR operations running smoothly.
- Train Store Managers and Human Resources Coordinators on HR processes, employment laws, recruiting practices, and related procedures.
- Guide Area Managers and Store Managers on workforce planning needs.
- Help recruit for store roles by building relationships with schools, government offices, nonprofit organizations, and other external talent sources.
- Use recruiting tools and talent acquisition methods such as job fairs, on-site recruiting events, and competitive talent research to identify candidates.
- Track employment steps from offer through onboarding, including paperwork completion, orientation sessions, and start-date communication.
- Support hiring events, including preparation and participation in internal and external job fairs.
- Post and refresh open roles on internal and external job boards.
- Partner with the Store Manager to monitor and control monthly personnel expenses.
- Work with the Store HR team to address company concerns and operational issues.
- Contribute to special projects as needed by management.
- Provide HR support across several locations as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree is required.
- At least 2 years of experience in human resources or a similar field.
- Retail experience is preferred.
- Strong proficiency with PCs and Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Hands-on experience with applicant tracking systems and HR systems; Workday is strongly preferred.
- Strong customer service mindset.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
- Working knowledge of HR policies, employment law, recruiting practices, and Equal Employment Opportunity rules and guidelines.
- Must be available for a flexible schedule based on business needs, including evenings and weekends.
- Travel may be required, ranging from 10% to 25%
Compensation
Hourly pay is set at $34.62.
The offered pay, including any range, is determined by multiple factors such as overall experience, relevant experience, education, certifications, applicable skills, expertise, and location.
