Role overview
Our client is looking for a seasoned Instructional Designer who can build engaging learning experiences that align with business goals and help employees grow. This contract opportunity sits within a collaborative environment and centers on creating high-quality training content using current learning tools and sound instructional design practices.
The position calls for someone who is confident working on their own in a fast-moving setting and who has deep experience producing e-learning, virtual classroom training, and performance support resources.
Core responsibilities
- Use the ADDIE framework to build effective learning solutions.
- Review source materials and business needs to define learning goals and training requirements.
- Develop e-learning modules in Articulate Storyline and Rise.
- Produce virtual instructor-led training materials and facilitator notes.
- Create storyboards, job aids, learner manuals, and other supporting training assets.
- Work with Camtasia, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Word to develop learning deliverables.
- Adhere to approved templates, standards, and development procedures.
- Coordinate with stakeholders, subject matter experts, and project teams.
- Handle several projects at once while keeping to deadlines.
- Monitor project status and share clear progress updates.
- Spot potential risks or blockers and raise them promptly.
- Operate independently with limited oversight while preserving quality.
Required experience and qualifications
- At least 5 years of experience in instructional design, learning and development, or training content development.
- Strong familiarity with instructional design methods, especially ADDIE.
- Practical experience with Articulate 360, Storyline, Rise, Camtasia, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Word.
- Background creating e-learning courses.
- Experience building virtual instructor-led training (VILT).
- Ability to develop storyboards, job aids, and other performance support tools.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
- Comfort managing multiple priorities and deadlines in a high-pressure environment.
- Strong planning and project coordination skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred background
- Bachelor’s degree in Learning & Performance, Education, Human Resources, Organizational Design, or a related discipline.
- Experience in healthcare, insurance, or another regulated industry.
- Experience supporting consumer-facing organizations.
- Comfort working with cross-functional partners and business stakeholders.
