Role Overview

The Internal Auditor position may be based in Cornella (Barcelona, Spain), Chertsey (Surrey, UK), or Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. Candidates are asked to submit their CV in English. The role focuses on planning and carrying out operational and financial audits, either independently or as part of a team, and on preparing the audit scope, procedures, and reporting outputs.

Audits may cover functional and operating areas and can involve compliance, financial, operational, and IT processes. The role also supports the annual risk assessment and audit planning cycle, promotes internal control and corporate governance practices across the organization, and may include advisory work, investigation support, and SOX controls testing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute financial and operational audits to evaluate the strength of the control environment, confirm adherence to company policies and procedures, and identify opportunities to improve processes.
  • Create clear, accurate, and well-structured working papers that explain the procedures performed, results obtained, and conclusions reached.
  • Develop practical findings and recommendations that strengthen internal controls, and partner with management to design solutions that are scalable and sustainable.
  • Track management action plans and verify that agreed remediation steps are completed.
  • Use business knowledge and audit insight to spot emerging risks and areas that may require review.
  • Test and evaluate SOX controls as part of audit work and in support of the SOX PMO annual testing program.
  • Support or lead investigations when assigned by the Global Asset Protection team.

Required Profile

  • A university degree, at minimum at bachelor’s level.
  • Strong business judgment together with leadership, interpersonal, and time management capabilities.
  • Excellent written and spoken English, with the ability to communicate confidently at all organizational levels.
  • Solid understanding of internal audit, risk assessment, and internal control concepts, plus practical experience applying them to plan, execute, and report on reviews of business processes, areas, or functions.
  • Commitment to professional standards of conduct as defined by the department and the profession.
  • An accounting or internal audit qualification/designation.
  • Either four years of public accounting experience or five to seven years of industry experience with knowledge across accounting, finance, and internal control areas.
  • Willingness to travel nationally or internationally for up to 30% of the time.
  • Experience extracting and analyzing data to identify risks and test controls using tools such as SAP, ACL, or Qlik.
  • For candidates based in Spain, strong functional English proficiency is expected.
