About the Role
The Fountain Group is seeking a junior-level Localization Program Manager (LPM) for a contract position to support various localization initiatives across product and content. This is an execution-focused role where you will collaborate closely with engineers, external vendors, and internal teams to ensure the smooth and high-quality delivery of localization workflows. The role requires maintaining Pacific working hours, even though it is remote.
Responsibilities
- Proactively monitor string and label release schedules, coordinating with localization vendors and tracking progress across active projects, identifying and escalating potential risks.
- Act as the primary localization contact for designated product teams.
- Assist in onboarding engineers to localization processes and best practices for file management.
- Manage open action items from initiation to completion, including following up on acknowledgments, vendor responses, and stakeholder decisions.
- Support in-context testing (ICT) to validate that translated text appears correctly within live product interfaces.
- Gain proficiency in existing Translation Management System (TMS) tools and potentially assist with tool setup.
- Liaise with cross-functional departments, such as marketing, on localization-related tasks.
- Oversee Localization Quality Assurance (LQA) projects, including sample selection, ensuring timely linguist reviews, and relaying feedback to vendors.
- Manage quality improvement projects, such as glossary localization and translation refinement.
- Identify and report process inefficiencies to senior management for review.
- Contribute to troubleshooting localization bugs and ongoing quality enhancement efforts.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in Localization Management, Language Translation, Translation Technology, or a similar field, or equivalent practical experience.
- A foundational understanding of localization best practices and software/web localization processes.
- Familiarity with vendor or cross-functional team workflows.
- The capacity to quickly learn and adapt to new tools, systems, and procedures.
- Comfort in establishing productive working relationships with engineers, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
- Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple tasks concurrently.
- A high degree of attention to detail and reliability.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with a Translation Management System (TMS) or AI-assisted localization tools.
- Knowledge of internationalization (i18n) file formats and GitHub workflows, or a strong willingness to learn.
- Experience working within agile or scrum methodologies.
- Familiarity with LQA tools like ContentQuo.
- An interest in identifying process gaps and suggesting improvements.
- Recent graduates from localization or translation programs are encouraged to apply.
