Role overview
This is a hands-on kitchen support position within a healthcare setting. The role focuses on maintaining cleanliness, handling deliveries, and supporting the kitchen team with basic food-related tasks while following hygiene and safety standards.
Key duties
- Receive deliveries and put stock away when it arrives, making sure items match the invoices.
- Keep to hygiene rules and food safety standards at all times.
- Clean kitchen equipment according to health and safety requirements.
- Wash floors every day and whenever additional cleaning is needed.
- Clean heavy-duty equipment used by production staff.
- Carry out a small amount of food preparation and basic cooking as part of the role.
- Keep the kitchen area neat, orderly, and safe throughout the day.
- Use floor-washing machines regularly when required.
Experience and certification
An up-to-date Food Hygiene certificate is required. Previous experience working with the NHS is preferred, and experience in a similar kitchen or catering support role would also be an advantage.
