About the Role

This position is for a logistics lead focused on air and sea freight within Larsen & Toubro’s operations in Chennai. The role centers on improving logistics performance, strengthening vendor and freight-forwarder relationships, and supporting business growth through cost-efficient and compliant freight management.

Key Accountabilities

  • Identify business opportunities across different business units while driving savings in logistics costs.
  • Manage the on-time renewal of annual contracts for both air and sea freight.
  • Bring in new freight forwarders or direct shipping lines to widen the logistics network and improve efficiency and competitiveness.
  • Win new internal customers from IC/SBG groups through effective business development efforts.
  • Ensure current vendors follow the code of conduct and complete the required acceptance process to maintain integrity and ethical standards.
  • Support IC/SBG teams with project-specific contract requirements to improve project delivery and cost effectiveness.
  • Serve as the logistics subject matter expert for air and sea, helping roll out the project initiative by simplifying processes, defining shipment and transport terms, and carrying out related testing and implementation activities.
  • Ensure compliance with MSME regulations and promote responsible vendor management along with legal adherence.

Technical Skills Required

  • Strong understanding of logistics management principles and practices.
  • Practical knowledge of air and sea freight operations.
  • Exposure to global trade activities.
  • Hands-on experience in building cost models for import and export movements.
  • Comfort using logistics management tools and software.
  • Knowledge of transportation regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Understanding of supply chain management concepts.
  • Ability to review data and use it for decision-making.
