Role overview
This position sits at a level where the incumbent works independently with limited supervision, leads day-to-day activities, and contributes toward long-term organizational goals. The role focuses on improving operational execution, strengthening procedures and standards, and supporting reporting and policy enhancement.
The main responsibility is to help shape the organization’s litigation approach, handle intricate case matters, and represent the authority before courts and other judicial forums.
Key responsibilities
- Take over litigation files from the objections team and help organize them by priority using established screening criteria.
- Review applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies to build a sound case assessment.
- Gather objection-related cases and coordinate with relevant departments to clarify requirements, impacts, and next steps.
- Collect supporting records and hold meetings with related parties when necessary to determine violations and prepare suitable legal action.
- Prepare pleadings, rebuttals, warning notices, and legal responses to protect the authority’s rights and reputation.
- Contribute to studies aimed at reducing repeat violations and help define preventive measures when needed.
- Carry out legal research using multiple sources and extract the most relevant material for case analysis.
- Review legal documents and related materials to pinpoint the issues that should be addressed first.
- Support the authority’s representation in cases for or against it before courts, committees, and government bodies, ensuring the required evidence and documents are available.
- Draft settlement proposals for disputes involving employees and external parties, excluding audit and collection-related settlements.
- Maintain an archive of favorable judgments for later reference and institutional learning.
- Identify external legal specialists who can provide additional advice when internal support is not sufficient, especially for non-tax litigation matters.
Education
A bachelor’s degree in Law Studies, or an equivalent qualification, is required. A master’s degree in Law Studies, or an equivalent qualification, is preferred.
Experience
At least 5 years of relevant professional experience is required.
