As part of Aliaxis, the New Zealand and Pacific business supplies high-quality plastic pipes, fittings, and building products. Well-known brands in the New Zealand market include Marley, RX Plastics, and Dynex.

The organisation is also committed to lowering its carbon footprint, creating strong outcomes for customers with reduced environmental impact, and contributing positively to the community. It is looking for people who align with its values and want to be part of its ongoing journey.

Our Values

  • We Dare — challenge existing ways of working, innovate, and learn quickly.
  • We Care — look after the environment, customers, and one another.
  • We Deliver — take ownership of decisions and actions.

Role Overview

This is a permanent, full-time Maintenance Electrician position based at the RX Plastics site in Ashburton. The role focuses on installing, maintaining, inspecting, troubleshooting, and improving electrical equipment and systems, including lighting, wiring, fuses, and control systems. You will also test faults and ensure all electrical work aligns with applicable codes, drawings, and industry standards.

Key Duties

  • Build, maintain, and improve a preventive maintenance plan that increases reliability and reduces unplanned downtime.
  • Act quickly on electrical failures, identify the underlying cause, and put in place both corrective and preventative fixes.
  • Partner with the Electrical Team Leader to make sure essential spare parts are identified, stocked, and easy to access.
  • Keep technical documentation accurate by backing up PLC programs, updating electrical drawings, and arranging outside maintenance support when needed.
  • Spot health and safety hazards early and work with relevant stakeholders to maintain a safe workplace.
  • Review equipment performance regularly with the Electrical Team Leader, refine maintenance approaches, and support the wider maintenance team in improving reliability and efficiency.

Candidate Profile

Successful candidates will hold a recognised Electrical Trade Certificate plus Advanced Trade Certificates A and B, which are essential. Advanced Trade Electrical C and D, NZCE Electrical, or an equivalent qualification is preferred. A current Practising Licence is also required.

You should bring at least 5 years of industrial electrical maintenance experience, along with practical knowledge of electrical equipment upkeep and closed-loop control systems, especially PID control. Strong PLC capability, ideally with Omron and/or Siemens systems, is important, together with good diagnostic and fault-finding ability. A sound understanding of health and safety obligations and a safety-first mindset are also expected.

Working Conditions and Benefits

  • Rotating Monday to Friday shifts, with morning hours from 7:00am to 3:00pm and afternoon hours from 2:00pm to 10:00pm.
  • Uniforms are supplied.
  • Overtime opportunities are available for those seeking additional hours.
  • A safe workplace with a strong focus on “Go for Zero.”
  • Training support to encourage learning, growth, and development in the role.
  • A business that prioritises sustainability and minimising its environmental impact.
  • Industry-leading paid parental leave: 26 weeks for primary carers and 4 weeks for secondary carers.
  • Employee Assistance Program for you and your family.
  • Recognition initiatives and service awards.
  • Mentoring opportunities to support career growth.
  • Access to a global DEI council where you can contribute and make an impact.
  • Career progression opportunities both locally and internationally.
