Role overview

Saputo Dairy Products Canada G.P. is hiring a Maintenance Technician for its Milk Plant in Mount Pearl, Newfoundland. This position follows an 8-hour shift schedule and is paid at an hourly rate of $36.40, in line with the collective agreement.

What you will do

  • Carry out repairs and ongoing upkeep on production machinery used in processing and packaging.
  • Diagnose equipment issues, shutdowns, and mechanical breakdowns.
  • Support planned preventive maintenance activities and the work order process.
  • Handle mechanical rebuilds, along with shop tools and machinery.
  • Take on additional tasks as needed to support operations.

What you need

  • An engineering technologist diploma is preferred, and industrial mechanic/millwright training is considered a strong advantage.
  • Background in a food processing environment is beneficial.
  • Exposure to automatic controls and PLC systems would be an asset.
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing in a closely coordinated team setting.
  • Prior production experience is an advantage.
  • Ability to learn and operate multiple pieces of processing equipment.
  • Strong ability to juggle tasks, solve problems, troubleshoot, and analyze situations.
  • Clear focus on safety.
  • Well-developed mechanical and technical aptitude.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Self-starter with a positive mindset, sound judgment, diligence, and a solid attendance record.
