Job description

Role Overview

This position is for a procurement and sourcing professional who will own contracting, sourcing, purchasing, supplier coordination, and related cost-optimization efforts for the business. The role is based in Jamnagar, Gujarat, and supports operational needs through structured buying, supplier management, and governance-led disposal processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead contracting and procurement activities so that supplier value is maximized in a practical and business-focused way.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements across the solar value chain, including commercial terms, legal protections, and conditions that reduce the company’s exposure to breach-related losses.
  • Plan sourcing and purchases, raise and execute purchase orders, and support operations and facilities in a cost-efficient manner.
  • Oversee order management, spares inventory, service contracts, and manpower contracts to ensure spares and services are delivered on time.
  • Handle scrap reconciliation and arrange scrap disposal through auction in line with group governance requirements.
  • Address daily procurement and supply-chain issues by coordinating with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Manage the full buying cycle, including RFQs, PO creation, PO tracking, receipt of goods/services, supplier invoicing, and purchase forecasting.
  • Drive savings programs across manufacturing lines and other parts of the organization.
  • Study buying patterns to find opportunities for cost reduction and process enhancement.
  • Build and sustain supplier relationships to secure timely delivery at competitive pricing.
  • Monitor procurement activities for adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Create and track procurement metrics to assess performance and identify improvement areas.
  • Manage the procurement budget and keep expenditure within approved limits.
  • Ensure all procurement work follows legal and ethical standards.
  • Keep up to date with current procurement practices and industry trends.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline.
  • Up to 6 years of experience in procurement and sourcing.
  • Hands-on exposure to bidding, including forward and reverse auction formats.
  • Prior experience in building or setting up a new procurement function is an advantage.
  • Strong working knowledge of SAP MM and practical experience using SAP.
  • Understanding of indirect taxation and GST.
  • Proven negotiation and contract management capabilities, along with supplier relationship handling and issue resolution.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, plus the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and senior leaders.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving ability, including market assessment and identification of sourcing risks and opportunities.
  • Self-driven mindset with the ability to work independently while using guidance when needed.
  • Comfort working in a fast-moving, startup-like environment that may involve ambiguity and frequent change.
